Matthias advises investors, fund initiators and fund managers on the structuring and restructuring of funds as well as on general corporate and regulatory law matters.

Education and Career

Matthias studied law in Bayreuth and Sydney (LL.M., 2012). At the University of Bayreuth he further completed an additional degree in economics and qualified as a commercial lawyer. Before joining SMP he practiced corporate and capital markets law at the Berlin law firm lindenpartners.


Matthias' recent work highlights include advising:

  • A Berlin real estate group on the reorganisation and refinancing of several real estate funds
  • Fund managers on regular corporate governance and regulatory matters
  • Investors on the structuring of project development funds in the energy sector within the regulatory boundaries of the German Renewable Energy Act (EEG 2017), the German Capital Investments Act (KAGB) and the German Asset Investments Act (VermAnlG)
  • Start-ups in financing rounds and Token offerings
