Lennart advises fund initiators, fund management teams and fund investors in the field of alternative investment (private equity, venture capital, debt, real estate) on all matters of regulatory law as well as on the structuring of funds and other investment vehicles. This also includes advising foreign funds and management teams on the private placement of fund participations in Germany. In addition, he provides support to investors with regard to matters of contract law and regulatory law in connection with their participations in open-ended and closed-end funds.

Education and Career

Lennart studied law in Göttingen, Maribor (Slovenia) and Stockholm. Before joining SMP, Lennart spent a number of years practicing as an attorney in the field of investment regulatory law with P+P Pöllath + Partners, Heuking Kühn Lüer Wojtek, and Debevoise & Plimpton in their Frankfurt und Hamburg offices.


Lennart's recent work highlights include advising:

a leading US fund-of-funds provider in the context of establishing a German company and obtaining a permit under sect. 32 German Banking Act (Kreditwesengesetz – KWG) as well as ongoing advice on matters of regulatory law

a German fund sponsor on the launching of their first private-debt fund in Luxembourg (fund volume of EUR 250m)

a leading US fund sponsor on an ongoing basis with regard to global distribution activities for private-equity infrastructure funds (fund volume of USD 5.5bn)

a leading German fund sponsor on matters of regulatory law, inter alia coordination of cross-border notifications in the context of acquisition of control regarding portfolio companies

a German superannuation scheme (Versorgungswerk) regarding a participation in a US REIT
