SMP advises robotics company Magazino on Series B financing round and venture debt financing

Berlin - SMP advised the Munich-based robotics company Magazino on its latest financing round. The Series B was led by Jungheinrich AG, existing investors also invested. In addition, the European Investment Bank (EIB) provided the start-up company specialized in robotic software with venture-debt financing. According to Magazino, the capital raised will serve both to expand international sales activities as well as to improve the company's software platform for intelligent robots. Once again, Magazino was comprehensively advised by a team led by SMP partner Benjamin Ullrich on both the equity and the debt financing. SMP had already provided the robotics company with legal advice in connection with its Series A financing round in February 2018.

"The transaction supports our hypotheses that the importance of both corporate venture capital activities as well as venture debt is on the rise. We are very happy for Magazino that this financing round was successfully closed despite the pandemic," says SMP partner Benjamin Ullrich.

Magazino GmbH develops and builds intelligent, mobile robots that perceive their environment and make decisions themselves. The autonomous robots work parallel to humans and make processes in the areas of e-commerce, fashion and production logistics more flexible and efficient. With more than 100 employees at its Munich location, Magazino has the largest Advanced Robotics team in Europe. Among the investors of Magazino are Körber, Zalando and Fiege Logistik.
