Berlin - SMP advised the Israeli early-stage investor Maniv Mobility on its investment in the Munich-based automotive sales technology specialist 2trde. This was the VC's first investment in a German startup. Maniv Mobility led the seed financing round with a total volume of EUR 2.5 million. The Israeli venture capitalist is backed by major global automotive and mobility groups, including car manufacturers such as Hyundai, Renault-Nissan-Mitsubishi and BMW, major suppliers such as Valeo and Aptiv, as well as Shell and Deutsche Bahn. In addition to Maniv Mobility, the existing investors Axel Springer Plug and Play, several business angels as well as McKinsey Senior Partner Michael Viertler, who specializes in the automotive sector, participated. Maniv Mobility received comprehensive legal advice from a team led by SMP partner Frederik Gärtner.
"Maniv Mobility's participation in 2trde is a signal for the continuing digitalization of the B2B second-hand car market in Germany, which has also been faced with a number of challenges recently, not only due to the current corona pandemic. Solutions like 2trde's software can play an important role in supporting the numerous second-hand car dealers. We are excited to observe further developments and are very pleased that we were able to accompany this cross-border transaction as advisors", says Frederik Gärtner.
Maniv Mobility is a venture capital fund committed to supporting early-stage startups from across the globe that are transitioning the world to a new era of mobility which is safer, cleaner, more efficient and more accessible. With USD 150 million under management across two funds, and offices in Tel Aviv and San Francisco, Maniv Mobility is backed by several major automakers, automotive suppliers and other strategic and financial investors.
