Berlin/Hamburg/Cologne - Schnittker Möllmann Partners (SMP) has launched its first virtual internship program on 30 March 2020. In addition to interns who have already been accepted previously, further students who have to complete mandatory internships and were unable to take up other internships at short notice due to the corona pandemic are also taking part. The interns can look forward to an extensive program that SMP consultants will present online.
"We became aware of the need two weeks ago and decided right away to offer the students an internship with us. Since video conferencing and working in the cloud are part of our everyday working life, the implementation was rather easy, and colleagues immediately signed up for daily lectures on topics from all our practice groups. In addition, the interns are each supervised by a tutor. We want to give the prospective lawyers an exciting and of course paid insight into the working environment and culture at SMP – even in these uncertain times", says Fabian Euhus, HR partner at SMP.
The program and the organization were developed under the leadership of Mirco Zantopp, Associate, and Lisa-Jo Heinrich, Junior HR Manager – together with the partners at SMP. It includes a series of presentations that focus on SMP's core consulting topics such as the basics of venture capital financing rounds, M&A transactions, the basics of fund structuring, tax law in young companies, employee participation programs, shareholder disputes and much more. In addition, law firm-specific topics such as client service, business development and legal tech are covered. Besides, the interns are fully embedded into their respective teams.
The tutors also meet regularly with the interns for a virtual coffee. A weekly virtual team lunch will take place with all program participants.
